MS MR

Can’t get enough of this band! I saw them at Lollapalooza this summer and they were amazing live. They will be at Lincoln Hall in Chicago tomorrow playing a sold out show. Check them out if you haven’t heard of them before!

Great Lake Swimmers at Lincoln Hall – May 1st

Great Lake Swimmers will be at Lincoln Hall next Tuesday, May 1st at 8pm with Cold Specks; $15. I am very excited for their return to Chicago. I saw them last summer at Evanston’s SPACE which opened in 2008. This venue is arguably the best in the Chicagoland area for Great Lake Swimmer’s aesthetic and provides an intimate setting with impeccable sound. I prefer Schuba’s over Lincoln Hall but I think it’s still a reputable venue.

Shows I have seen at Lincoln Hall include: Atlas Sound (TNK), Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (SSLYBY), Camera Obscura and Kate Nash.

Anyways, this show is highly recommended as Great Lake Swimmers do not disappoint. Check out their video for, New Wild Everywhere off their new album which was released early April of this year.

Video below for Easy Come Easy Go which is also off their new album.

Cheers,

Miss Tastee

Camera Obscura – Lincoln Hall 4/5/10

Camera Obscura is easily one of the best live bands I have seen in a while. Their music is timeless and their stage performance backed that up. They played alot of music that included popular songs like, “French Navy” off their most recent album, amongst older songs like “Teenager” and “Let’s get out of this country.” They also played a song that didn’t make it onto their last album, “World is full of strangers.” Whether you have been a long time fan of Camera Obscura or a fan since their most recent album, I recommend seeing them live. It was a great experience!

Princeton, an L.A. based band opened for Camera Obscura and they were a nice suprise. They played alot of music off of their recent album, Cocoon of Love…which is a great album. Princeton is an all guy outfit that ironically includes twin brothers…because I attended the show with my twin sister. The twin brothers switched off between vocals, bass and guitar the whole set which was entertaining.  And, Tim from Camera Obscura played the trumpet for a few songs. They did more than open because the crowd was into the whole set. Their sound is alot more mature than their age which is a great indication that this band isn’t going anywhere. Expect big things from Princeton in the future but, for now check out their new album, Cocoon of Love.
